Teaching

Helen has been teaching singing for over 20 years, since graduating from Trinity College of Music, London, and her pupils achieve outstanding exam results and many other successes at local and national level. She started teaching from her fathers music room at the age of 14 to earn some pocket money. It started with beginners recorder lessons, often entering the students for exams.

Helen carried on her passion for teaching after graduating, first at The German School in London, where she stayed until 2019. Then from 2015-2020 Helen taught at The Royal School in Haslemere and from 2020 Helen took on the singing teacher position at Lincoln Minster School.

In September 2020 Helen became Head of Singing at Repton School in Derbyshire and since being back in the Midlands is now in huge demand as a teacher. All the lessons Helen gives are individual lessons, mainly young singers preparing for ABRSM or LAMDA grade exams, Diploma's,  GCSE/A level performances, competitive music festivals, and auditions. Her pupils achieve outstanding results in their exams and frequently win prizes and trophies at festivals. Many of her pupils have achieved scholarships to further their vocal studies at other schools including Repton, Lincoln Minster, Worksop College, Shrewsbury school, Choral scholarships to Cambridge Universities, and also to Arts Ed and ACM in Guildford.  Many of Helen's previous students now have successful careers in performance.

Helen speaks a number of languages and is able to coach pupils in Italian, German, French, Spanish, Latin, Norwegian, Russian and Czech pronunciation.

Helen also runs several choirs at Repton and Repton Prep and is also the choirmaster of The Winter Singers.

Along side her vocal teaching, being an all-round musician, Helen is also hugely sought after for piano, theory, clarinet and recorder lessons.
